The Massachusetts antique fire apparatus association Inc (MAFAA) was founded as a local group in early 1977, a chapter of the Society for the preservation and appreciation of antique motor fire apparatus (SPAAMFAA) located in Syracuse, New York. The purpose of the organization is to promote and preserve antique motorized fire apparatus. However, you do not have to own a piece of apparatus to belong. It is open to all upon application to the board of directors.
A general monthly meeting is held, usually the first Sunday of the month. The annual meeting is held in January and the annual fire apparatus parade, show and flea- market are held the second Saturday in June.
We have many members who own apparatus, and many who do not.
We also publish a bi-monthly newsletter, Box Alarm, which contains numerous article, reports, photos, for sale & wanted ads and a calendar of events.
The following classification of membership are available;
